Welcome to the KU IT Datalab wiki for LUMI users!
This page is an introduction for KU users working on the super computer LUMI. It is supplementary to the official LUMI documentation as well as their training materials which we urge you to review.
Scroll down for a beautiful overview digaram that I totally did not spend half an hour on making.
We are not LUMI. We do not work for LUMI. We're KU IT Datalab people, trying to make your LUMI life a little easier.
If you are experiencing issues with LUMI or have technical questions, reach out to the LUMI Support Team (LUST) . They also help with software installation.
Expectation Alignment
What we help with:
- Conceptual questions: Is LUMI the right place for my analysis?
- Minor Debugging of Job Scripts. Terms and conditions apply*.
- Software Installation. Though the LUMI Support team may be quicker. Terms and conditions apply*.
What we do not help with:
- Questions about basic HPC operations, commandline usage & Bash. We refer here to the tutorials
- Technical questions. Please contact LUMI support.
- Scientific questions.
- Identifying the right software for your analysis.
- Writing your analysis pipeline for you.
*The terms and conditions are that we are a grand total of two people and have other work tasks beside LUMI support, so support can be correspondingly slow.

The right mindset for LUMI
If you are scared of LUMI, take a deep breath, it's not that bad.
If you are not scared of LUMI, be a little bit scared.
That should put you in approximately the right mindset.
